CFP Constitution

INVITATION:

"Canadians with moderate views and perspectives are invited to contribute to the final version of the CFP's Constitution. We welcome input and ideas that will reflect the values and thoughts of most Canadians."

PART 1

THE CONSTITUTION

ARTICLE 1 THE BODY CONSTITUTED

1.1 The body constituted is the Canadian Federalist Party, hereinafterreferred to as "CFP".

ARTICLE 2 SCOPE OF CONSTTITUTION

2.1 This constitution and bylaws shall govern:
2.1.1 the activities of the Party,
2.1.2 all persons operating on behalf of the Party, and
2.1.3 the rights, responsibilities and duties of all recognized units, committees and membership of the Party.
2.2 This constitution shall have precedence over the bylaws and any bylaw that is inconsistent with the constitution shall be null and void to the extent of the inconsistency.

Article 3: Basis Of Unity

3.1.0 The basis of unity of the CFP is:

3.1.1 FEDS - Free Enterprise Democractic Socialism:

Our adoption of the principles of free-enterprise, democracy, and progressivism in a context of moderation and flexibility, then there is philosophical room for the Canadian Federalist Party, (CFP). This philosophy could be called Free Enterprise Democratic Socialist by its' adherents.

3.1.2 Public Service:

Our commitment to public service — that governments, civil servants, politicians, and political parties exist to serve the people, and that they should demonstrate this service commitment at all times.

3.1.3 Canadian Sovereignty:

Pro-Canadian party dedicated to the principle that Canada can best serve its citizens and the world by re-claiming and maintaining its political and economic sovereignty as an independent country. It is opposed to the ascendancy of "corporate rule" and those aspects of unrestricted global investment that promote colonization of the world’s smaller powers.

3.1.4 Respect for the Law:

Our commitment to the rule of the law, and to the concept that governments and lawmakers are not above the law, and that the primary purpose of democracy is to create and change laws in the pursuit of fairness, justice and equal opportunities within the nation.

3.1.5 Unity in Diversity:

To seek to establish programs across our great nation that promote the great Canadian characteristic of "Unity in Diversity". Such programs would promote another great Canadian trait - that of tolerance! Our goal is that Canadian "multiculturism" will triumph as a vital Canadian example to the rest of the world that the vast majority of core cultural morals and values can be pusued and enjoyed within a stable society with ethical government!

3.1.6 Social Justice:

Our promotion of social justice and solidarity of human values and human dignity.

3.1.7 Community:

Our belief in the value of community as vibrant and secure places to raise families and enjoy our livelihoods.

3.1.8 Opportunity:

Our commitment to equality of opportunity whereby every citizen can work to achieve their potential development.

3.1.9 Responsibility:

An emphasis on responsibility, whereby Canadians accept their responsibility to the nation and their community in order to enjoy the rights and priviledges granted by society.

3.1.10 Canadian Cultural Values:

Our embrace of multiculturalism within our foundational heritage of tri-culturalism, (Native, French, English), as important Canadian values. In a world bled by intolerance, these values make Canada "a light unto the nations." If these are important, then government involvement in their promotion is not a waste, but a virtue.

3.1.11 Political Principles:

Our belief that political parties should be guided by stated values and principles which are shared by their members and rooted in the political beliefs of Canadians.

3.1.12 One Great Nation:

Our commitment to Canada as One Great Nation, indivisible, and to our vision of Canada as a balanced federation of provinces, citizens and three founding cultural nations.

3.1.13 Stewardship of Our Physical Country:

Canada's identity and vision for the future should be rooted in and inspired by a fresh appreciation of the stewardship of “our land” and the supreme importance to our well-being of exploring, developing, renewing, and conserving our natural resources and physical environment.

3.1.14 Nurture Canadian Values:

To elevate and nurture caring and compassionate values among all peoples and all cultures, which will provide the basis for sustaining just, democratic, peaceful and diverse communities.

3.1.15 Comittment to Canadian Cultural Values:

To commit ourselves and encourage Canadians to promote enhanced and socially engaged caring and compassionate values through research, dialogue and example, as well as through increasing awareness of our own capacities to be caring and compassionate for others, ourselves and life’s rich diversity.
